Rangers' Michael Young Named All-Star MVP After Two Out Rally In The Ninth

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The American League was down to its last
strike and facing a 2-to-1 loss to the National League in the 77th
All-Star game at Pittsburgh. Instead, the A-L is 9-0-and-1 in the
last ten midsummer classics following a 3-to-2 comeback win over
the N-L.
The American League pulled out the victory by collecting three
of their seven hits with two outs in the ninth off loser Trevor
Hoffman of San Diego. Paul Konerko kept the game alive with a
single before Troy Glaus doubled him to third. Texas Rangers
infielder Michael Young followed with a two-run triple that keeps
the A-L unbeaten since 1996.
Young also ended the game by making a nice catch of Carlos Lee's
blooper in short right with the potential tying run at second.
Young was named the game's most valuable player.
