ADA, Okla. (KTEN) -- Early Wednesday morning, it was reported that the city of Ada received around an inch of rain, while other parts of Pontotoc county received more than double that amount. The Pontotoc County Emergency Management office received reports of flooded roads on 10th Street, 12th Street, and Broadway.

"The biggest concern we have is Mississippi and Main Street.” Explained Ada resident Barry LanCaster. “That whole area floods, I mean literally floods."

Some residents like LanCaster believe upgrades to the drainage system are needed.

"It would be nice, That's not the only flood area, there a lot of areas, and when we get rain like we're supposed to get this weekend, you can't, you can't get around."

Others, like Joel Rutledge, believe the city is already up to date on their drainage system.

"I think the city has done a pretty commendable job of doing a lot of upgrades on the drainage and infrastructure that way. I'm sure it still floods some places when it rains hard enough, but I'm not real concerned." He explained.

Ada city officials are hoping to have news on improvements in the near future.
