DENISON, Texas (KTEN) - Leadership Denison lent a hand at the Texoma Family Shelter building a new playground.

The shelter has been around for 36 years; currently nine children are housed at the shelter. City staff got to work installing a new basketball goal, new fencing, and swing sets.

According to Daphne Levenson, Texoma Family Shelter's Executive Director, about 8,000 went into the project including a grant to the city.

"Childhood is difficult enough but childhood when you're homeless is even more so, so to give them a safe place to play and fun things to do to get their minds off their problems is priceless," Levenson said.
