SILO, Oklahoma (KTEN)- In Silo, two Rebels are racing on to the collegiate level.

Ashton Davis is heading to Northwestern Oklahoma State for cross country and track. He said he's hoping to run longer events like the 800 meters and the mile.

Shawn Weaver will making the short trek to Murray State. He'll compete for the Aggies' cross-country team in their inaugural year.

But before they take that next step, both took a moment to look back on where their journey began.

"My mom, she's been running her whole life, she ran marathons," Weaver said. "It made me think, 'maybe I could be good at this too', and it turns out, I'm going to college for it."

"My sophomore year, I started realizing I was pretty quick and I could actually do this and take it somewhere," Davis said. "It's really amazing because at some point I thought it wouldn't happen but here I am."
