Wednesday Evening - A Tornado Watch is in place for Atoka, Bryan, Pittsburg, Pushmataha, McCurtain, Grayson, Fannin, and Lamar counties through 10 PM tonight. Mighty hot and humid this evening with a cold front pushing through the region. Temperatures ahead of the cold front will hover in the upper 80s to low 90s due to compressional heating. Dew points are in the low to upper 70s ahead of the front, allowing heat index values to reach the upper 90s. Be sure to stay hydrated! Behind the front, temperatures will be falling fast into the mid to upper 70s. The cold front will be sparking storms along and ahead of the boundary in eastern Oklahoma and eastern North Texas this evening. A level 3 out of 5 risk is in place for our southeastern counties. All hazards are possible with large hail up to golf ball size, winds up to 80 MPH, and tornadoes. Storms could ignite as early as 4 PM and could last through midnight.

Looking Ahead - Southern portions of Texoma have been added to the risk for severe weather Thursday. Up to a level 3 risk is in place for southern Grayson, Fannin, and Lamar counties. A stationary boundary will set up just to our south, igniting storms that could bring damaging winds, large hail, and one or two tornadoes to DFW. If the boundary remains south of Texoma, our main threats will be large hail and damaging winds due to the elevated nature of the storms north of the boundary. Temperatures and humidity are trending downward into our Mother's Day weekend. Another round of rain arrives late Saturday night into Sunday. If you have plans for Mom, be sure they involve being indoors as it could be soggy at times! Low-end storm chances follow Texoma into next week.
