DURANT, Okla. (KTEN) — No one was hurt after a fiery emergency landing at Durant Regional Airport-Eaker Field on Monday morning.

In a statement, the airport said the plane landed around 11 a.m. with an engine on fire. Images from the scene showed the plane was askew and ablaze.

Officials said the pilot — who was the only person aboard the aircraft — escaped without injury.

A registration number on the tail of the plane indicates that it is a twin-engine Piper Navajo that had taken off earlier Monday morning from Sand Springs, Oklahoma, according to FlightAware.com. It was scheduled to land at Durant.

A radar track of the plane showed that it made a series of at least three loops across southeastern Oklahoma near McAlester before its approach to the Durant Airport.

The Piper Navajo, built in 1980, is capable of carrying up to eight passengers and crew.
