Bracing for severe weather in Pontotoc County

Posted: Updated:

ADA, Okla. -- With the potential of rain (and even some snow) this weekend, Pontotoc Emergency Management wants Ada-area residents to be prepared for whatever comes their way.

The agency and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation said they will be monitoring roads and low-water crossings through the weekend.

Emergency Management Director Chad Letellier said the absence of heavy rain over the last several months could leave motorists unprepared for what's coming.

"That threat tends to leave your thoughts," he said."You just drive your roads normally, and when you come over the top of a hill or maybe you have to cross that low-water crossing every morning or every night that you normally do, suddenly there's water there."
