DURANT, Okla. -- Christmas came early for the City of Durant and Bryan County. The Choctaw Nation presented checks to both governmental agencies on Monday.

The City of Durant received $62,900, and Bryan County got $7,200 from the Nation's quarterly Choctaw Community Partner Fund.

"We're all about building relationships," said District 9 Choctaw Tribal Council member James Dry. "We all live in the same community, and the Tribe has always been really good stewards each community that we reside in, Choctaw Nation. It's just a great way to have partnerships with our local cities."

The Nation distributes contributions on a quarterly basis. The City of Hugo and Coal County were among the other entities that received checks on Monday.
