ARDMORE, Okla. -- We're learning more about the 22-year-old man who police say held up an Ardmore bank on Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators identified the armed bandit as Zackary Gage Pebley of Wilson.

After allegedly getting away with more than $3,000 from Bank of the West, Taber Knight helped police track down Pebley and recover the stolen cash.

"I was just driving through the parking lot turning around," said Taber Knight. "I seen a guy running and a woman yelling at him, so I thought he stole her purse."

Knight started chasing the man, but when he caught up with him, he found the man had taken more than a purse.

"I realized it was a bag of money," Knight said. "He threw the money at me, started to reach into his back pocket, so I just dropped him."

The Good Samaritan then called police to tell them where officers could find the suspect.

Knight said he took action because of his grandmother.

"I thought he stole a purse from an older woman. It's not right, and I'd want someone to do that for my grandmother," he said.

Knight's being called a hero around Ardmore, but his view is more modest.

"I'm just an ordinary guy," he said. "I would help the lady. I had no idea it was a bank, but I'm glad nobody was hurt."

Pebley, 21, is facing a first degree robbery charge. The FBI is now leading the investigation.
