SHERMAN, Texas -- A busy intersection just west of Sherman Town Center could be going the way of the dinosaur.

Knollwood Road -- near Ace Storage and the Austin Landing subdivision -- is almost always rolling with traffic. Young Enterprises wants to buy that land, which intersects along Northcreek Drive and Travis Street.

They want to replace the entire intersection with retail space, while extending Hilre Drive west to intersect with Travis, where a traffic light would be installed.

"As part of their request, they submitted a letter saying their intention would be to actually close down that section of Knollwood Road, which, in their proposal, they mention would help alleviate some of the traffic concerns that have been there the past several years," said Deputy Mayor Shawn Teamann.

The idea has already won approval from Sherman Planning and Zoning. It now goes to the City Council for final consideration.
