Funeral set for former Kingston police chief

KINGSTON, Okla. -- Funeral services are set for next week for former Kingston police chief John Canoe.

Canoe passed away Wednesday night after a recent illness. He was 75.

He joined the Kingston police department in 1989, becoming chief in 1991, a tenure that endured until just a few months ago.

Canoe's funeral will take place at 3 p.m. Monday at the new Kingston High School gym at 400 East 3rd Street. He will be laid to rest at the Kingston Cemetery at 400 North Marshall Street.
