ADA, Okla. -- Saturday marks the 8th annual Orphan Love Mud Run at the Pontotoc Technology Center in Ada.

"[It's a] 5K obstacle course race," said obstacle coordinator Danny Manuel. "What's special about it is, it's a fundraiser for adopting families."

The Mud Run raises money for It's a Child's Life, an organization dedicated to helping orphans.

"We do so much to help adopting families, and also to promote fostering," Manuel said. "It's really all about children, and it's about helping families and not leaving anyone behind."

The Mud Run has raised a lot of money since it's inception.

"Since 2010, we've raised over $100,000 to be able to benefit adopting families and help charities that help vulnerable children," Manuel said.

The course will be challenging, as there are a lot of different obstacles in the way of competitors.

"We're going to have some walls to climb over. We're going to have redneck Frisbee. It's a giant Frisbee disc, and competitors will have to throw this giant Frisbee disc from one tee post to another tee post," Manuel said.

Of course, there will also be lots of mud, but don't worry if you're afraid of getting dirty.

"We're going to be washing people off with a fire truck after they run, so get washed off by a fire hose and come out and have a great time," Manuel said.
