Searing heat forecast for Texoma on Monday

DENISON, Texas — Brace yourselves, Texoma: Monday is forecast to be yet another blazing hot day.

Most of the KTEN viewing area is under an Excessive Heat Advisory until Monday evening. That means it will feel like the temperature is between 105 and 110 degrees.

The National Weather Service advises anyone who must be outdoors for extended periods to take frequent breaks and to drink plenty of water..

The northern counties in Texoma — including Latimer, LeFlore, Pittsburg, Hughes, Seminole and Pottawatomie — are under an Excessive Heat Warning through 9 p.m, with heat index values around 110 degrees.

A Peak Day Alert was issued by the Red River Valley REA, asking customers to conserve energy between 3 and 7 p.m, when demand for electric power is forecast to be at its peak.
