SHERMAN, Texas -- Grayson County Commissioners say they've been trimming the property tax rate over the last few years... and they plan to continue the cuts.

At Tuesday's meeting of Commissioners Court, meeting, Grayson County Judge Bill Magers said the proposed budget would also provide county employees with a nearly 4 percent pay boost.

"New growth is driving Grayson County," he explained. "In the last four years, we've been able to drop the tax rate by 16 percent, so we're proud of that. As Grayson County grows, we'll lower taxes for Grayson County taxpayers."

The county's budget won't be finalized until late September or early October.
