Two dead in Texoma crashes

Posted: Updated:

Two motorists died Wednesday in separate one-vehicle accidents in neighboring Texoma counties.

A Texas woman was killed Wednesday evening in Marshall County after her car crashed on Post Office Road near Enos, Oklahoma.

Oklahoma State Troopers said Kayla Cox of Alvarado, Texas, was southbound about two miles south of Enos when her Ford Taurus veered off the road and rolled just before 6:30 p.m.

Cox, 26, was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seat belt.

The cause of that accident is under investigation.

A passenger was killed in Love County less than four hours later when a Ford F-150 pickup truck crashed near the intersection of State Highway 32 and Enville Road, seven miles east of Marietta.

Troopers identified the fatality as Kenneth Hembree, 58, of Marietta. He was ejected about 75 feet from the vehicle.

Wilson resident Johnnie Palmer, 40, was driving at the time of the crash. He was also ejected from the truck and was treated for back and hand injuries. Palmer was later released from a hospital in Plano, Texas.

Investigators said neither man was using seat belts. The cause of the crash has not been determined.
