BRYAN COUNTY, Okla. -- The Bryan County Regional Juvenile Detention Center is under investigation by the State of Oklahoma.

The Office of Juvenile Affairs in Oklahoma City told KTEN the facility has closed because they are actively investigating contract and licensing violations.

"We have suspended the contract with the Bryan County Regional Juvenile Detention Center ... and an investigation is underway by the Department of Human Services Office of Client Advocacy," OJA said in a written statement.

The detention center closed its doors on Monday. OJA said the juveniles in the center were transferred to other facilities across the state.

The state is specifically investigating Youth Services of Bryan County Inc, which operates the center.

Bryan County owns the building, but does not oversee operations.

District 1 Commissioner Ron Boyer said news of the alleged violations came as a surprise to him.

"We had no idea what was going on. They mentioned violations; I have no idea what that means, really," he said. "All I know is that the county is in a growing mode at this point, and we need a detention center in the county to facilitate this growth."

The director of Youth Services of Bryan County declined an opportunity to provide comment about the investigation.time...
