Unique Denison pool getting national exposure

DENISON, Texas -- A unique swimming pool in Denison will be featured nationally on an HGTV program this weekend.

It features a breathtaking view of Lake Texoma.

"Anytime you have a swimming pool by a lake, it just screams 'negative edge' pool, because when you're standing on the upper side of the pool, when you look out, it looks like the pool is just flowing into the lake," said Rodney Allison, owner of Allison Pools.

It was not an easy design to execute.

"Ground was actually about 12 feet lower than where we are at right now, so we had to fill this whole area with a select fill, compact it in, then dig the pool to give this look," Allison explained.

In addition to the waterfall, the pool also features a water slide, hot tub, and a glass barrier.

"I've been in the business a long time, and I've worked a lot with luxury properties, and this is the finest pool I've seen residential," said Mike Brodie of Keller Williams Realty.

Nearly everyone that was a part of making this pool happen is from Texoma.

"Just makes you feel good," Allison said. "Makes you feel proud of our town. We love Denison."

"I'm a Chamber of Commerce kind of guy, so I think you do business locally with your local vendors and suppliers and laborers and everybody, and I think it's terrific," Brodie added.

You can catch the profile of this swimming hole on HGTV's Best Pools Ever, broadcast Saturday at 9 p.m. and midnight.
