DENISON, Texas -- Denison police are in the process of adding 13 new vehicles to their fleet.

Personnel will be driving 2019 Chevrolet Tahoes, Malibus and a pickup truck, along with a Dodge Charger and a Ford Explorer.

Instead of buying the vehicles, police spokesman Lt. Mike Eppler said the city is leasing them from Enterprise.

"It's important to have reliable vehicles, because we do get in emergency situations and it can be very critical and crucial -- sometimes life or death -- to get somewhere safely," he said. "Having a new vehicle or a good, solid vehicle is very, very important."

All Denton city departments will be getting updated fleet vehicles to replace models that are older and have logged more miles..
