SHERMAN, Texas -- A new shopping center is being planned on Texoma Parkway in Sherman.

There's a proposal to tear down the current Texoma Tobacco shop next door to the McDonald's and have it become the anchor point for the rest of the center once it's rebuilt.

The city is hoping to bring in more people and more revitalization with what will become more than 10,000 square feet of retail space.

"It's a very exciting project for the Texoma area," Deputy Mayor Shawn Teamann said. "In any growing city you see revitalization happening in areas of town that may have been aging."

The time frame for construction hasn't yet been announced.
