DENISON, Texas -- There's a new marshal in town.

Denison has just hired its first City Marshal since 2011. Eric Newton will help police clear 3,000 outstanding warrants.

He already has a plan: Getting Denison warrants entered into a regional system.

"Currently, if you have a warrant in Denison, more than likely you're only going to get arrested on that warrant if it's in the immediate area," Newton explained. "Being able to put them in a region is going to open it up all the way down to the Metroplex."

As part of his duties, Newton will also oversee security for Denison's municipal court.
