Monday is flu day for North Lamar students

Posted: Updated:

PARIS, Texas -- The flu outbreak is forcing another Texoma school district to close its doors.

The North Lamar Independent School District in Paris said there will be no classes on Monday, February 4, due to illness and excessive absences.

"Hopefully this will allow our students and staff the opportunity to improve from the sickness affecting our district," Superintendent Dr. Jason Adams said in a written statement. "Have a great weekend, and get well soon!"

In Oklahoma, Lone Grove Schools remained closed Friday due to the flu outbreak. Officials there planned to reopen on Monday.

The Centers for Disease Control says influenza is widespread in both Texas and Oklahoma.
