SULPHUR, Okla. -- The Chickasaw National Recreation Area resumed regular operations on Monday following the month-long government shutdown.

In a statement issued Monday morning, the facility said the staff is back at work; the Travertine Nature Center is open; and trails, boat ramps and restaurants are back in business.

Camping is available at The Point, Rock Creek and Buckhorn campgrounds.

The park had remained open during the government shutdown, but most visitor services had been curtailed.

"Chickasaw National Recreation Area’s employees are happy to be back at work, serving the American people and welcoming visitors to their national parks," the statement said.

Visitors are invited to an eagle watch this Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Nature Center.
