SHERMAN, Texas -- Before a race, drivers check their cars.

And before you vote, staffers with the Grayson County Elections Administration check their electronic voting machines.

The process essentially involves a mock election. Test votes are cast and the numbers from the iVotronic system are processed and checked.

"We test every piece of equipment that we're going to use," explained Elections Administrator Deana Patterson. "We track every piece of equipment so that we feel comfortable about the security of our election, and we want our voters to feel positive about the security of our election, too."

Early voting for the November 6 general election begins on Monday, October 22.
