One dead after shooting in Madill

MADILL, Okla. -- A Madill man is in custody after police say he shot and killed a man.

Madill police said they responded to East Wolf Street after they received a call about a man who was shot in a home that he was renting.

Madill police said at around 2:30 Tuesday morning, they found 36-year-old Robert Jordan suffering from a gunshot wound in an East Wolf Street home. Jordan died while being taken to the hospital. Within a few hours of the shooting, police found the suspect just five minutes north of town.

"We received information from anonymous sources that told us where the suspect could possibly be which is in the Carter Lake addition north of Madill,” said Public Information Officer Donny Raley.

Raley said the suspect in the home was 38-year-old Harold MacNeil, who refused to come outside in about an hour long standoff.

"Approximately an hour later, after numerous attempts to get the suspect to come outside, he did finally exit the trailer and was arrested without incident," Raley said.

While police are unsure of the motive and exactly what happened, raley said the two men did know each other.

"It became apparent that the suspect, who had left prior to the officer's arrival, was an acquaintance of the victim and had been to the subject's residence and they were friends,” he said.

With that in mind, Raley believes there is nothing for the community to worry about.

"We just want the community to come together and know that this was isolated and we don't expect any ramifications to come out of it,” he said.

Police said the incident is still under investigation, but MacNeil has been booked into the Marshall County Jail with a charge of first degree murder.
