High point alcohol making its way to Oklahoma stores

Posted:

DURANT, Okla. -- High point alcohol making its way onto store shelves across Oklahoma, but some stores might have to wait a little longer for the alcohol to hit their shelves.

With today being the first day for higher point alcohol; the industry is working hard to restock empty shelves across the state.

"We've got a lot to do and a lot to replenish," said alcohol distributor L.T. Humphries.

With it being a high demand; distributors got started on the deliveries early Monday morning.

"We're delivering to restaurants, bars, liquor stores, gas stations… anywhere that carries Coors products,” said Humphries.

Stores like Green Spray in Durant are happy for the change, but have to wait until they receive new licenses to sell the alcohol.

"I think it’s good for us… you know we'll be able to start selling wine and some other things that Oklahoma's been kind of behind on," said manager Jordon Sullivan.

While the change mostly affects grocery and convenience stores; liquor stores will have something new to offer as well.

"We just now started getting the Coors Light, the Bud Light products because we never had those; they were never made in high point in Oklahoma until now,” said manager Lisa Caviglia.

With Oklahoma making major changes to their alcohol laws; distribution companies said they don't expect to slow down anytime soon.

"This beer that we drop off today will probably be gone in like a day or two and we'll be right back out refilling shelves and setting up more displays,” said Humphries.
