ARDMORE, Okla. -- Ardmore's Take Two Academy is on the move.

The school -- for students in grades 9 through 12 who may be struggling to graduate from high school -- is getting a new building, taking over the former Charles Evans Elementary School.

"I think what'll happen is, we'll feel more like a family again," said director Lori Bell.

The staff not only helps students with their grades, but also with their mental health.

"We work with kids that have been traumatized in different ways... not necessarily a car accident, but other events that happen as they are developing their brains," Bell explained.

Before moving to the elementary school campus, Take Two Academy had been at two other locations, including a building on Springdale Road.

"Several years ago, we had problems with that building and we relocated to Ardmore High School, and we were kind of just nestled in there," Bell said.

Now, with the academy finally having its own building, Bell said it offers a better environment for students.

"We have our own site where you can have the privacy for the students to kind of develop on their own," she said, adding that there will be other benefits at the new campus.

"We're actually going to have a library, my science department will have its own lab," Bell said. "We'll also have a computer lab, so we'll really be able to grow in this building."

There is still some construction going on at the new location, but everything for Take Two Academy students when classes begin on Thursday, August 16.
