ADA, Okla. -- The City of Ada is celebrating the grand opening of it's first Chick-fil-A restaurant.

For more than 24 hours leading up to the event, tents covered the parking lot at 1500 Lonnie Abbott Boulevard as people camped out to get a year's worth of free food.

Franchise owner Brian Stanley says he couldn't believe the response from the community. "They've wrapped their arms around this business and supported it already," he said. "We had a great turnout at premiere night and our dedication dinner, and today at our First 100 event. It's just been phenomenal... it's been amazing."

A former teacher from South Carolina, Stanley hopes his business will also have a positive impact on Pontotoc County schools.

"We said, 'Let's make a service project. Let's do something to impact the community and help schools out.' So we bought school supplies and we're going to be stuffing book bags, and we're excited to donate them to Ada City Schools," he said.

Ada Superintendent Mike Anderson has been working closely with this project, and believes this won't be the only time this new business will make an impact.

"School districts and area residents in Pontotoc County are going to benefit, as we do from any new business," he said. "We just want to see Ada continue to grow and prosper. This is another example of what's going on in this town, and I'm proud to be a part of it."

The new Chick-fil-A will support 80 new jobs.
