GRAYSON COUNTY, Texas -- The Grayson County District Attorney said 36-year-old Kristoffer Craft was sentenced Thursday to 18 years in prison.

Prosecutors said Craft -- a former Collin County Constable -- was driving drunk when he crashed his pickup truck into a Whitewright home in April 2016.

His seven-year-old son Kolton died in the wreckage. Craft was convicted of felony murder in May.

Before handing down a sentence at Thursday's hearing, Judge Jim Fallon heard evidence that Kristoffer Craft had been previously convicted of driving while intoxicated and impersonating a public servant.

Craft will not be eligible for parole until he's served at least nine years in prison.
