SPRINGER, Okla. -- A drive-in movie theater is coming to Carter County.

The Cool Breeze RV Cinema and Resort opened its doors in May. The trailer park is already set up, and the drive-in cinema is on its way, 15 miles up the road from the nearest movie house in Ardmore.

Co-owner David Horner said he and his team wanted to bring something to the area that hadn't been seen in years.

"It just seemed like a good fit," Horner said. "Two simple things like an RV park and a drive-in, and it was like, 'Why not just put them together?"

Horner -- who is a student at the University of Oklahoma -- said owning a business while being a student can be tough, but that he's doing what he loves.

"Anybody can really make the time for what's important in life, and just really, putting that best foot forward, anything is possible," he said. "It's exciting, and it's definitely a busy schedule, but it's one I wouldn't have any other way."

The drive-in means more than just having a place where people can watch movies from the comfort of their cars; the Ardmore native said he's always wanted to give back to the community that raised him.

"Getting to do something like this, with great people, has always been big for me," Horner said.

The drive-in, on U.S. 77 just south of Springer, will open on Friday, July 13 with a showing of "I Can Only Imagine."  Tickets are $4. Patrons don't have to be campers, and they can sit on the grass if they prefer an open-air movie-going experience.

Oklahoma has at least four other functioning outdoor theaters, according to the United Drive-in Theatre Owners Association:  The Chief Drive-In in Chickasha, the Winchester Drive-In in Oklahoma City, the Tower Drive-In in Poteau, and the Admiral Twin Drive-In in Tulsa.

A KTEN viewer also let us know about three others: The Beacon Drive-In in Guthrie, the El-Co Drive-In in Shattuck and the Corral Drive-In in Guymon.
