VAN ALSTYNE, Texas -- Residents of Van Alstyne can drink the water again.

The city issued a "boil water" order on Tuesday after a major main break at the corner of Clement and Sherman streets compromised the supply.

Boiling was necessary to insure there were no contaminants in the water.

On Thursday morning, Van Alstyne rescinded the boil water notice. "You may resume normal water usage," the city said in a notice on its website.
