VAN ALSTYNE -- Police in Van Alstyne need help finding a man caught on camera trying to break into an ATM machine.

Police Chief Tim Barnes says the guy was not successful.

The attempted break in happened at a local bank over the weekend.

They say he may have had help..

You can see in the surveillance video he tried to use what appears to be a propane tank to try and smash the ATM machine.

"Typical smash and grab. they're trying to think of anything possible so they can get entry into those ATM’s," Chief Tim Barnes said.

Police say if they had broken into the ATM an alarm would have alerted officers.

If you know who that man is or have any information about this crime you're asked to call police.
