The goals and expectations for the Healdton Bulldogs are identical throughout the team. Building off last year's trip to the second round and protecting their house.
"A good, deep run into playoffs and to win every home game," Senior Trey Shaw said.
"We have got to keep the field ours, and win every game we have on it," Senior Ethan Andrews said.
"Our expectations are to win our home games and find a way to be in that district championship game," Bulldogs head coach Mark Barrett said. "Again, try to improve on the second round of playoffs and get to the third, maybe fourth round."
This team will continue to rely on the offensive line and a skilled backfield to give defenses fits.
"We've got some pretty good running backs and a good quarterback that can run the option game," Barrett said. "Anytime you can implement that the defense has to prepare for two or three situations at one time."
That includes the air attack.
"My quarterback this year, Denton Miller, has a pretty good arm," Barrett said. "We also have some pretty good receivers that have some good experience. I think the passing game will be a big part of our offense this year.
For the seniors on the team, it's their final chance to leave their mark on Healdton High School athletics.
"(We're) Hoping to get that district champ, let them build off that and keep it going," Andrews said.
"It would be a great way to go out, and leave a legacy behind for these young pups," Shaw said. "Just helping with leadership and showing them how to keep the team going, don't let anyone get down, help out as much as you can."
The Bulldogs begin their season August 26 against Wayne.
