HEALDTON, OK -- After making the postseason for the first time since 2012, the Healdton Bulldogs are hungry for more.
"We're going to have to step up and show the younger kids what they need to do to go deep into the playoffs," senior running back Mark Mincy said.
"We call this Christmas weekend. Christmas morning to come out here and it's like opening up a brand new present. Being excited to get the season started and we've had a good turnout. Kids have worked hard and we are excited about the season," head coach Mark Barrett said.
The Bulldogs would get bounced in the first round of the playoffs last year, but they don't plan on letting it happen again this time around.
"The kids felt like we let that one slip away from us last year, left a bad taste in their mouth so they are really hungry to get that first playoff win and host another one at home this year," Barrett added.
They would lose eight seniors to graduation, but will look to their four new ones for experience and to the others for enthusiasm.
"Our goal right now is to be playing for the district championship come Week 10," Barrett concluded.
