UPDATE: Suspect killed outside Choctaw Casino by law enforcement identified


UPDATE [1:57pm, Dec. 5] -- The latest OSBI report states that two Hugo Police Officers and two Choctaw County Sheriff's Deputies fired their weapons after William Lee Honea exited the stolen pickup and raised a rifle at officers. 

UPDATE [9am, Dec. 5] -- The suspect shot and killed outside a casino in Grant has been identified.

The OSBI says William Lee Honea, 33, of Yantis, Tex. died after a high-speed chase.

Investigators say Honea stole a truck then led law enforcement officers d
own US-271 and on county roads before ending at the Choctaw Casino.

OSBI says Honea had a rifle when he got out of the truck and that shots were exchanged. A law enforcement officer shot and killed Honea.

Investigators say he was wanted for armed robberies out of Sulphur Springs, Tex.

UPDATE [10pm, Dec. 4] -- A man is dead after a police pursuit that led to an officer-involved shooting outside a Texoma casino.

It started after officers were told a man with warrants out of Texas was at the Choctaw Casino in Grant.

The suspect saw officers headed towards him and took off.  Officers say he ran to a vehicle barn and stole a truck.

The high speed chase led Hugo Police, Choctaw County Deputies, Tribal Police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers up and down US-271 and on county roads.

The chase ended outside the Choctaw Casino where shots were exchanged between both the suspect and law enforcement.

The suspect's name is not being released at this time.

"[He] started back south again and when he came back onto 271 the second time that is when the trooper became the lead unit.  The subject had already ran into a semi and had damage to his front tire," said OHP Officer Lt. Shawn Pierce.

An officer shot and killed the suspect. No officers were hurt. The OSBI investigates all officer involved shootings.  All agencies involved are a part of the ongoing investigation.

Suspect shot and killed outside Choctaw Casino in Grant, Okla.

GRANT, Okla. -- A man is dead after a high-speed chase and an officer-involved shooting Thursday afternoon.

Hugo police began pursuing a 33-year-old man suspected of driving a stolen truck.

The chase ended outside the Choctaw Casino in Grant, Okla. Grant is located in Choctaw County south of Hugo.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says shots were fired and a law enforcement officer fatally wounded the suspect. No officers were injured.

The OSBI is working to identify the suspect.
