Summit Held To Teach Local Veterans About Possible Benefits

DURANT, OK -- Today more than 60 Texoma veterans ventured out to the Choctaw casino to learn about what benefits they could be missing out on.

The Southern Plains Region Veterans Training Summit is a two day event held by the Choctaw Nation to teach all U.S.Veterans about what benefits they might not be receiving.

The event featured presentations discussing available grants, changes to services and benefits, and opportunities for employment training.

"All veterans, native Americans, females, everybody should be aware of what advantages there are out there as far as benefits, there are so many benefits out there that people aren't aware of," said Tara Price, Oklahoma Dept. of Veterans Affairs.

If you were unable to make it to the summit on Wednesday, there is one more day left.  It will also be going on again Thursday from 8 AM to 1 PM at the Choctaw casino in Durant.
