Calera Bulldogs heading to first baseball state tournament

CALERA, OK --  Welcome to the elite eight, Calera. For the first time in program history they've made it to the baseball state tournament.
This comes as no surprise with the way this team has played.

They're a speedy bunch, with no superstar just several role players doing their part.

As they get started tomorrow they'll look to make more history with each round.

"It'd feel great because like coach said, we're not done yet. Just making it there is not enough," senior SS Connor Hamilton said.

"I think it'd be pretty great to start a tradition of going to state and competing in state. I mean, all teams dream of going to state but it's more to compete and go out there and win two or three games and actually prove that you were meant to be there," senior P/2nd baseman Lucas Wright added.

"We're all excited about it. The kids have worked hard and this has been in the process for seven years to do something like this and it's always been a goal of ours and I'm lucky enough to come into a good group of kids that have the same goals that I do," head coach Rickey Teafatiller concluded.

They'll take on Mangum Thursday night at 6:30 at Shawnee High School.
