Tushka Tigers back in state tournament for third straight spring

Posted:
TUSHKA, OK --  The Tushka Tigers have started a tradition over the last few years making it to three straight spring state tournaments.

This could be their best team yet - even better than the 2012 semifinalists.

The Tigers have a third ranking in the class and have a strong core of five seniors who've earned their stripes over the years.

This afternoon the players would tell me what it would mean to win a state title while coach Eddie Jeffcoat would say what makes this Tiger club different from ones in years past.

"They've been a really good group. You know they've been I guess four times in the last three years. So a pretty special group," Jeffcoat said.

"It's something I've been waiting for my whole life. Go win a state championship, it would just be amazing," senior short stop Jody Moreland added.

"It'd be amazing, it's what we've worked hard for our whole lives. To be up there and actually have a shot to win it," senior infielder Taylor Mobbs concluded.

They'll play Hennessey at 11 a.m. Thursday in Shawnee.
