DURANT, OK -- The Southeastern rodeo team is hosting an intercollegiate for the Central Plains Region this weekend all getting started Thursday.
Representatives from 25 colleges from Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas are all in attendance. Even the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Kansas State Wildcats would make the trip.
The Betty Gayle Cooper-Ratliff Memorial Rodeo is one of only ten places in the region to host the event, and it has for more than a decade.
First year Savage Storm rodeo head coach Christi Braudrick has a good idea why the Central Plains keeps coming back to the Round-Up Club.
"I think our location, getting out of Kansas, our weather it's always warmer here. I mean, we're not in sub-zero weather right now. So it's a pleasure to come down here actually this time of year and enjoy it, not be bundled up trying to do this stuff," she said.
The event will continue to feature nightly performances at 7:30 p.m. through Saturday as well as the chance to catch even more rodeo action with slack performances beginning at 9 Friday and Saturday morning.
