Concert Held In Memory Of Sherman Motorcycle Crash Victim

GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- A concert in Grayson County was held in honor of a motorcycle crash victim from Sherman.

Bob Hillerby, 69, died last October after a wreck on F.M. 1417. Family members say the Vietnam veteran suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and had gotten involved with a group of other veterans a few years before his death.

Today the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 973 held a concert at Loose Wheels Texas in his memory.

"That was his purpose, his passion was to help these guys that are having difficulties when they come back from war and it's very difficult for them," says widow Alice Hillerby.

"Somebody in front of him turned to the left and somebody behind him went to pass on the shoulder and basically took his way out, and he had nowhere to go," says son David Hillerby.

Hillerby was a combat photographer in Vietnam and owned a print shop in Sherman.  Toda'ys event raised funds for the chapter, which meets the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at Grandy's.
