Sherman To Hold New Police Officer Test In McCurtain County

SHERMAN, TX -- One North Texas police department looks to Oklahoma for help filling several officer vacancies.

The Sherman Police Department will hold a civil service test in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Police Chief Otis Henry recently told council members they have been working with a technical school there and have several interested applicants.

Henry says they are also loosening the rule when it comes to prior marijuana use to try to keep applicants from being disqualified for youthful indiscretion and offering a new pay structure designed to attract experienced applicants who can make a lateral move without having to re-start their civil service steps.

The exam will be held on April 19 at both Broken Bow High School and Sherman High School. However, any applications must be turned in by April 8 at 5 p.m.
