DENISON, TX -- Denison is one of three teams on top of district 13-4A. Their 3-1 league record has them tied with Wylie East and Wylie in the standings.
The WHS Pirates will be their Week 8 opponent in a game that may prove to be the district championship.
One thing the Yellow Jackets have been doing well all season is run the ball. Their three-headed rushing attack of Denard Whitfield, Devon Blanton and Colton Henslee have scorched opposing defenses.
Whitfield credits the five up front while head coach Chad Rogers thinks they'll raise the already highly set bar.
"It's wonderful especially for my offensive line because I couldn't do it if it was without them and then with Devon and Colton rushing over 100 that just gives me a break to catch my breath and everything. So, I'm pretty thankful for that," Whitfield said.
"They've been playing great. Again it'd be one thing if you had one back rushing for 200 yards and one back rushing for 300 yards, but we have three rushing for over 100. Obviously that means your offensive line is doing a great job. You can't say enough about them and they're getting better. They're going to get better. I really expect them to play their best game this week," Rogers concluded.
Kick-off from Munson Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
