GUNTER, TX --- The one-loss Tigers are back in familiar territory after a big second half last Friday afternoon against Tolar.
They'd trail it 6 nothing heading into the break, but come out gunning, scoring 35 and taking care of business 35-12.
Now they're back in the regional round, a place Gunter has been six straight times and they'll have the tough task of taking on Nocona.
The Indians are 11-0 on the year have a common opponent in Alvord.
In week five of the season Gunter decimated them 41-0, and the following week Nocona did the same shutting them out 43-0. Based on those numbers alone it seems pretty evenly matched.
"Nacona, they're a really good football team. They've got, I believe, only one sophomore that starts on defense. And one junior that starts on offense. The rest of them are seniors. We know that they're going to be a group that's going to fight real hard. Were going to have to play 48 minutes of football and be ready to play an entire game," Head Coach Jake Fieszel said.
"From what we've seen on film, they're real physical like us. They're pretty well coached from what we've seen. It'll be a good match up for us," Senior wide receiver/corner back Will Neely said.
The Gunter Tigers will travel to Denton this Friday night. They take on Nocona at 7:30.
