WHITEWRIGHT, TX --A small town in Texoma will soon receive international recognition when it's seen on the big screen in a feature film.
The small town of Whitewright, Texas is being put on the map.
"The Luella property is going to be exteriors and what we've done is built this whole back entrance to match the back entrance of the other house," says Will Wallace, Director, Red Wing.
The city has been chosen to be the site for a film called Red Wing featuring Luke Perry, Francis Fisher, among many other talented actors.
"She got married when she was 18, had her son Johnny right away and then some things and surprises happen in the story and I don't want to give to much stuff away," says Breann Johnson, leading lady.
Filming started Monday and Integrity Film Productions has 23 days to make movie magic.
"It's a story about love and it takes place in a gorgeous small town in the country," says Patti Carpenter, Producer.
It was a two state search to find the perfect place to film and the last stop in Texas, Whitewright, captured everything producers and the director were looking for.
"We love Whitewright. Patti and I came and we've loved it from the beginning and the town has been instrumental in making this happen," says Wallace.
Officials with the City of Whitewright are thrilled to have this type of recognition.
"This is the greatest thing that has happened to Whitewright, ever," says Rudy Howell, Mayor Pro Tem.
And to have this kind of revenue brought to the area, "One of the big things for movie productions is you have to have beds for heads and we don't have hotels. So what we did is find some houses empty and with people living in the them who would rent them out," says Brett Christoffel, President, Chamber of Commerce.
But most of all, city officials are excited to show off their hometown hospitality and the film crew and talent say they'll continue to enjoy their time in Whitewright until they wrap up production, August 11th.
Red Wing will be premier at the Canne Film Festival and possibly the Sundance Film Festival as well.
