(KTEN) — Ryan Capps, the 25-year-old former Durant Public Schools employee who was charged with felony child sexual abuse two years ago, has been convicted on three federal counts.

Prosecutors alleged that Capps had been involved in an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

Capps was originally to be tried in the Choctaw Nation tribal court system, but the case was moved to the Eastern District of Oklahoma under federal jurisdiction.

Capps was arrested in November 2022. At that time, his Twitter account described him as a "Christ-follower, assistant football, basketball and track coach."

He is a graduate of Kingston High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
