TISHOMINGO, Okla. (KTEN) — Since the deaths of six Tishomingo High School girls at the dangerous Y-intersection on the city's west two years ago, state and local officials have been talking about how to make it safer.

On March 16,  2023, KTEN reported on the Oklahoma Department of Transportation's plan to redesign the junction of US 377 and State Highway 22.

That project has taken longer than originally anticipated, but ODOT is now ready to move forward with public input on the plan. There will be a meeting on Tuesday, April 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Murray State College.

"ODOT's partnering with the city and with the Chickasaw Nation to host this public meeting," said ODOT spokesperson Bryce Boyer. "We really want to get input from the general public about some proposed alternatives to the current configuration of US 377 and State Highway 22. What we're looking at doing is presenting three proposed alternatives."
