We now know that two of seven soldiers killed in a helicopter crash early Wednesday in Iraq are from our area. KTEN's Jhen Kordela has more.

Three Oklahoma National Guardsmen and four soldiers from the Texas National Guard were killed in a helicopter crash yesterday in Iraq. Of those, two local men, One, a Kingston resident and another, a former Durant resident.

Family members of 36-year-old Brady Rudolf confirm he was killed in the chopper accident. Rudolf was a graduate of Durant High School. His brother is a member of the Durant Fire Department.

Twenty-three-year-old Corporal Michael Thompson, from Kingston was also aboard the helicopter that went down near Baghdad. His parents tell us he was a machine gunner aboard the Chinook helicopter.

KTEN spoke with Maj. Lindy White out of Oklahoma City about the services the military provides to grieving family and friends.

White says there are local services that will help with the various stages of grief, funeral services and paperwork.

"I am just -- on behalf of the military, we're just sorry for the losses of those families that were affected today," says Maj. Lindy White. "And, I just know that this is hard for everyone and I just hope that they realize that there is a support element out there, and we are a guard family, and we will take care of each other."

We have also learned the third soldier from Oklahoma was 43-year-old sergeant Dan Eshbaugh of Norman.

According to a statement issued from the Texas National Guard, The crash is under investigation, but it was not likely the result of hostile action.
