SHERMAN, Texas (KTEN) — Reports of car break-ins across Grayson County have apartment managers taking precautions and warning tenants.

There have been at least 20 reports of vehicle burglaries in Sherman this week.

Sherman police spokesperson Sgt. Brandon Hughes said the incidents are primarily at apartment complexes on the west and northwest side of the city along FM 1417.

Victims said their vehicles are being broken into, windows smashed, and valuables stolen.

Managers told tenants at The Bridges on Travis that they've shared security camera footage with the Grayson County Sheriff's Office. The images show three men breaking into vehicles between midnight and 4 a.m.

"Just because you don't live on the west or northwest side of town, doesn't mean it can't happen somewhere else," Hughes advised. "Always keep your stuff locked up, man, and don't leave anything of value inside the car."

The Grayson County Sheriff's Office is also working reports of car break-ins at apartment complexes that fall outside of Sherman's jurisdiction.
