Tuesday Evening - Isolated sub-severe storms are ongoing this afternoon in parts of Texoma thanks to a warm and humid air mass over Texoma. Humidity levels are surging ahead of a dry line thanks to south winds gusting up to 15-25 MPH. Even though a cap exists over Texoma this afternoon, it will start to erode closer to sunset, opening a window for storms to fire into the overnight hours. The dry line to our west will provide enough lift to possibly break through that pocket of warm air before sunset, allowing storms to potentially go severe. If storms break the cap, they will be quite isolated to scattered, so not everyone in Texoma will see the impacts from these storms. Large hail and damaging winds will be the primary concern, but a low tornado threat does exist. Heavy rain could lead to flash flooding.

Looking Ahead - A cold front will push into Texoma early Wednesday morning, leading to storm development beginning around sunrise. The front will stall along the Red River, leaving the risk for storms to last through the entire day. A level 3 out of 5 risk is in place due to the risk for widespread severe storms with all hazards being possible. The boundary will hang around through Thursday, allowing storms to continue to develop. A level 2 out of 5 risk is in place for Thursday with all hazards possible. The severe threat will last through at least the start of Memorial Day weekend with a level 2 out of 5 risk now in place for Saturday.
