MARSHALL COUNTY, Okla. (KTEN) — Thursday's scheduled auction sale of Marina del Rey on Lake Texoma was called off at the last minute.

The marina, located about six miles south of Kingston, was served with a notice of sale by Happy State Bank, its mortgagee, on March 18 for failing to follow financial agreements.

This is not the first time the resort has been taken to court. In August 2022, Marina del Rey faced scrutiny from property owners for sewage coming into the marina and homes.

An attorney representing the marina at the time said replacing the existing treatment system was too expensive, leaving manager Garrett Johnson with a fine of $117,000.

Now the marina's status remains up in the air. No new date has been scheduled for an auction, nor will Happy State Bank proceed with the sale.

KTEN reached out to the attorney representing the lender to explain why Thursday's auction was canceled, but no answers were forthcoming.
