DENISON, Texas (KTEN) — For 17 years now, the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce has held an annual fundraiser giving participants a chance to clay pigeons.

The money raised goes to programs like the Denison Youth Leadership Academy, which helps students get essential school supplies.

Chamber CEO Diana Theall said 120 shooters were part of this year's event; 30 volunteers and 30 teams spent three hours to complete each shoot.

"You can see that everyone is happy, they're ready to go shoot, and it brings people to our area and they see all of the great things," she said. "You see all these great raffle prizes? Our area members have all donated these."

Shane Hill has been involved with shoot for the chamber since 2014.

"The joy is being out there as a community – to be able to engage, as a community, but to also shoot clays. The competition is amazing," said Shane himself.

In addition to raising money, this event showcased Denison's offerings with donated prizes from local businesses.
